Sailing Lake Wendouree

Lake Wendouree is a shallow lake (< 1.4m) and therefore the classes of yachts sailed are restricted by the depth of the water.

Ballarat Yacht Club welcomes all members of the public to come and try sailing.  Please see our news and events about when the come and try days are on.  If you are a seasoned sailor and would like to start sailing then click here to join up or grab a sailpass to see if BYC is the club for you.

The club conducts competition with class line honours and both yardstick and individual handicapping to promote fair and even competition.

Weekend Competition

Ballarat Yacht Club generally conducts sailing on a Saturday afternoon.  Race Briefing @ 1:30pm with The first class commencing at 2pm

Two races are typically scheduled each week.  Some weekend special events will change the start times, the length of race or number of races

Standard Fleet Start Times

ILCA: 2pm

Jubilee: 2:03 pm

Mixed: 2:06 pm
