Lake Wendouree
With the return of water to Lake Wendouree, The Ballarat Yacht Club is back in business. We have recommenced our sailing program with limited competition this year and are returning to full competition for all classes in 2011-2012. We intend to return the club to its previous scale of operations and believe there is great opportunity to introduce new competitions and member activities. The Ballarat Yacht Club committee is looking forward to re-establishing the club as a force in regional and State racing. We have had many champions and juniors who started and honed their skills on Lake Wendouree, who have gone on to glory in the world of yachting, and we will do it again. The club has a great tradition of being a family club with children a welcome part of sailing and the clubhouse. We strongly encourage juniors to come up through the ranks and become the future of our club as members and on the committee. Sails on the Lake RestaurantThe Ballarat Yacht Club has an in-house restaurant, Sails on the Lake, which is located at the yacht club and provides a fantastic cafe menu for yacht club members and the general public. Learn to SailWe have an extensive sailing program for juniors and seniors as well as our popular Sailing for Everyone program. The club is strongly supported by Yachting Victoria and has accredited sailing instructors leading our Learn to Sail program. The club is very fortunate to be associated with local secondary colleges and has available a fleet of 12 Pacer dinghies which are an excellent platform for both new and existing sailors to develop their skills for both pleasure sailing and competition. Sailing EventsThe Ballarat Yacht Club is re-establishing itself as a leading inland sailing club that can offer a range of sailing events including recreational sailing for members and visitors as well as attract class State titles, special regattas and inter-school competitions. |
